About me
“I write for Black Women. I care deeply for our wellness and joy, as well as our mental, spiritual, and physical health. We deserve protection, healing, and freedom. We have infinitely earned the right to just be.”
Kandice Head is an author, womanist, poet, and Chicago native with a heart for storytelling and social justice. She works full time in advocacy communications at the Funders’ Collaborative on Youth Organizing and part time as content writer for whatmatters.com.
Kandice earned her Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Strategic Communication at the University of Missouri. When she’s not working, she’s writing and performing spoken word poetry. She recently published her debut collection of poetry and prose, “A Black Girl’s Symphony.”
Her writing philosophy is to make it clear, concise, and memorable.
